The Human Resources Department is responsible for filling the personnel needs of the district with qualified certificated and classified employees. All employees must get a fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice prior to starting work in the District.

Substitute teachers must have a college degree and have passed the CBEST exam. Substitute teacher applicants can contact Maribel Vargas-Meza at 805-922-4573 extension 4304 or mvargas@smjuhsd.org.

Classified employees are those who provide support services to the staff and students and includes secretaries, bus drivers, custodians, maintenance, instructional assistants, food services and many more. Coaches are hired for each season’s sports. Each school’s Athletic Director may be contacted for specific needs. Coaching applicants can contact Maribel Vargas-Meza at 805-922-4573 extension 4304 or mvargas@smjuhsd.org.
